In the far north of the island is where you’ll find Washing Pond Beach, which is also sometimes referred to as Water Tower Beach. The Nantucket Conservation Foundation and the Nantucket Land Bank are the entities that share ownership of the beach as well as the dirt parking lot. The parking lot has space for around 25 cars, and a trail through the dunes leads to the beach. Because of the area’s gentle surf and expansive sandbar that is easily accessible when the tide is low, this spot is fantastic for families and groups of young children.
At Washing Pond Beach, the water is quite shallow and stays at a pleasant temperature throughout the summer. This is a great destination for families seeking a beach to spend the day at. This beach is fantastic for taking quick strolls with your dog, exploring the tidal pools, and looking for shells to bring home.
